Darcey Birch
My name
is Darcey Birch and I live in Grayshott, near Haslemere and train at
the Farnham and Haslemere clubs. I started studying karate nearly
two years ago in May 2006 when I was 7 years old.
I had started because I had
heard about the club in Haslemere from a number of my friends and it
sounded really good, plus I thought that the training would be
really satisfying. I like going to karate because I learn loads of
new stuff every week, that other people that I know don't learn!
I also like all the other children that train
in the class with me and have many friends there.
My favourite technique is the spinning back
kick, although my instructors say that my best
technique is my roundhouse kick, as apparently I'm a natural. I also
like using the mats at all the clubs and doing the kiai's, although
I like pretty much all of the training that we do. I have al so
competed in a couple of tournaments over the past two years, which I
really enjoyed. I want to do more of these as I continue to progress
through my grades and I want to win lots more medals as well.
My other hobbies apart from the karate are
skiing, running, cycling, swimming, singing and
dancing. My favourite animals are kittens and puppies.
Like all the kids at the clubs, I want to become a black belt and my
ambition is to be awarded my 10th Dan!
Darcey was chosen for her positive outlook to
training, her great talent for kicks and her attitude in the kids
class, which sets an example to all.
