Comments: There is only so much I can do with a camera the rest is up to you guys.....thank ya lucky stars I didn't get any of you dribbling!!

Name: Raymond Montgomery

Date: 26 January 2007

Comments: Ahh, the curse of Curtis strikes again. I know I have highly evolved skill of looking like I don't know what I am doing (forged in the fire of my will), and every time I happened to look in Glyn's direction he had that "this is going to be another good one" grin on his face.... Some great shots from the day.

Name: Glyn Curtis

Date: 26 January 2007

Comments: You guys are so funny!! (Simon & Raymond), but not half as funny as the pics! Forge my body indeed? The right arms not bad. I have some shots that look like Simon's got some moves to get him to the bar faster and nothing to do with competition fighting :-) The course was fantastic even though I couldn't take part, but looked good through the camera lens, sorry if any pics are out of focus but at 12:00 I had to take some pain killers for the teeth and it all went a bit blurry from then on. Thanks again to Sensei Otto for giving such a great seminar, also into his experience of competition karate. Very nice guy.

Comments: Night after night I forge my body in the fire of my will, and that's the thanks I get! Anyway don't the over 35's usually get a 5 point head start? Excellent way to spend a Sunday though. Many thanks to Sensei Corin for making it happen.

Name: Raymond Montgomery

Date: 22 January 2007

Comments: A big thank you to Sensei Corin for organising what can only be described as an amazing days training yesterday with Wayne Otto. It was absolutely fantastic and I for one have learned a lot of new techniques. A great day in every way. Thanks to Sensei Otto for being a great instructor and such a nice guy. I have to admit I hurt like hell this morning, but it was worth it. The only thing keeping me going is that I know that Simon is going to be worse... ha ha ha!!

Comments: Nice site and good source of information. Thank you

Name: Simon Barnard

Date: 21 December 2006

Comments: Thanks to Sensei Corin for a cracking year of karate. Some top-notch visiting Sensei only served to highlight the dedication and quality of his training, that we all receive on a weekly basis. If only my ability could match his enthusiasm! A merry Christmas and a happy new year to all! A special thanks must also go to Shaun. His part of that special double act at the Christmas party will stay with us all I'm sure. ;-)

Name: Jessica Mckeown

Date: 15 December 2006

Comments: I think that Corin is a great teacher and has helped me learn karate. I have found karate a very good sport and have learnt how to defend myself. More people should take up karate and well done to Nick for receiving his 3rd Dan from Sensei Shiomitsu.

Name: Tyson

Date: 12 December 2006

Comments: Another great session with Sensei Shiomitsu tonight, I'm always in awe of how effortlessly he manipulates students when demonstrating techniques, I'm sure given another 40 years I'll probably start to get it. In answer to Glyn's earlier question (4th October) the chin was and is fine, but it was a good moment for him and a learning exercise for both of us and I'll take him up on the drink. Unfortunately it was captured on video and I reluctantly let Glyn have a copy. Doh! I showed the guys at work who kept replaying the magic moment of me taking a kick on the jaw over and over again in slow motion. They've stopped playing it now and I can once again go into work without them laughing at me. Thanks!

Date: 12 December 2006

Comments: Anyway sorry about the radio thing.......it sort of started off differently than I expected and some how talked a lot about some other stuff rather than karate, but did get there in the end......come on I thought I was great!! yeah right! I was glad I had a camera there coz Corin was having his usual trouble with his equipment so used mine being bigger and better :-) Just to show how good my face is for radio!! The other thing is Tommy needs someone to give him an atlas to take home and read as I was confused with the whole Alton Towers thing and Thorpe Park?????. Tommy Boyd is also looking for other interesting people other than Corin and myself to appear on the radio (if that can happen!) to chat to him about anything, Oh, I mean that "didn't you hear the stuff I came out with"? If I was to choose a department store it would be Selfridges. If I don't see anyone before Xmas or at the Xmas dinner hope you all have a good time and happy new year. Glyn

Comments: Hi All, Just wanted to say something about Sensei George Grimes and his lesson a week last Sunday, amazing stuff!! It’s just hard remembering it all but bits keep coming back!! I must admit it is easier as Phil and I went to Bristol the Friday before and went through most of the Pinan Nidan Bunkai or some of it....if you ever thought that Pinan Nidan was a simple Kata think again, there is plenty in that one Kata alone to keep you busy for a very long time. One thing that I particularly like about Sensei Grimes is his willingness to go that bit further for you so that you can grasp some of the important parts of what he is teaching, instead of just leaving it at that.....he did ask if there are any questions you would like to ask....its only our fault if we don't ask! I look forward to the next course and hope to get over to Bristol shortly. (my turn to drive Phil!!) Its well worth it too. Thank you Sensei Grimes.

This is something that us mere mortals can only dream of, but it is something that we ALL benefit from as we get the opportunity to study under one of the greatest practitioners of karate in the world.

Comments: Just wanted to say thanks to all who organised the Club Competition, it went really smoothly and kept everyone really interested throughout the whole event. It takes a lot of time and effort to do that and it benefits everyone involved. Everyone who took part that had never been in a competition before said it was great fun....I hope you all meant that :-)

Look forward to the next one cheers all..... Glyn

The tournament was organized very well and I hope there will be a similar one next year or in the near future. Enjoy your course with Shiomitsu Sensei! See you soon !

Comments: First of all, I am very pleased to see that traditional Karate values are being maintained within the UK. My only regret is that there are no Wado Ryu clubs in my area, where the traditions I hold dear are maintained. I live in North Bucks and in this area the only clubs where traditional values are still maintained are Shotokan, Goju Ryu and Kokushin Kai stylists. I originally began my Karate training with Hanshi Tatsuo Suzuki at the London Judd Street boxing gym in 1968. Other instructors I have had the honour and pleasure of being taught by are, Myoshin Hayakawa, Masafumi Shiomitsu, Toru Takamizawa, Teruo Kono and Kuniake Sakagami, all very traditional Wado Ryu exponents. Over the years I have been greatly saddened by the politics and internal wrangling that eventually lead to the fracturing of Karate organisations throughout the UK and the watering down of traditional Karate values. I am so pleased to find that there are still areas in the UK where the Karate traditions are valued and held high. Your website is great, but have you thought about a technical / instructional area, made accessible to members only? Thank you and well done.

Comments: Martial arts places are very hard to find. Luckily I found one near me in Aldershot, unfortunately the place is quite hard to find in the middle of army Barracks. I was very nervous going in and did not know what I find and I was expecting the trainers to be very intimidating. To my surprise they was not and very friendly. I'm looking forward for my first lesson on Tuesday.
